About North Norfolk Divers
North Norfolk Divers is a local scuba-diving club based in Holt, Norfolk. We've come a long way since our humble beginnings over 20 years ago. Following diving heros such as Jacques Cousteau and Hans and Lottie Haas, a few inspired locals got together and formed Holt Sub-Aqua, helping train other like-minded enthusiasts and exploring the hidden depths of the North Sea.
Today, as North Norfolk Divers, we are a very active dive club operating from Weybourne beach. Fully equiped for all club members, we have a rigid inflatable boat and a floppy; the larger RIB is fitted with GPS navigation, VHF radio, echo sounder and oxygen therapy set, all of which enable divers to explore wrecks many miles offshore.
The club affiliated to the British Sub-Aqua club (BSAC) soon after its conception and we now use their approved training schemes. The course has changed over the years and is now designed to get you into the sea within a few weeks. Pool training is at Gresham's School, Holt, where we also run regular trial sessions for people to discover the thrills of diving for themselves. The fee for these "Try Dives" is refundable if you undertake training with the club at a later date.
Our members come from all over Norfolk to experience and enjoy great wreck diving, see lots of fish and other sea life, and take part in the challenging task of diving off the North Norfolk coast.
The club has an active training program. Initial training to BSAC Club Diver standard takes place at Gresham's School, Holt with sheltered water dives at suitable sites. Sports Diver and Dive Leader training is also offered, as are several of the qualifying courses to Advanced Diver grade.
We welcome all divers from any training agency, though we are affiliated to BSAC. Our Diving Officer is very happy to issue equivalent qualification certificates, with a 'statement of alternative training' should you want to join and you have already begun your training with another agency.
Though most of the clubs diving is done from Weybourne beach , there are usually some trips away each year. These trips can be a great way of quickly improving your diving skills and having an interesting social time with other club members.
The club even has it's own wreck. The Caroline Muller was purchased by the club from the Admiralty eight years ago to provide divers with a home to go to and just something to call our own.
So why not come and meet us on Thursday evenings, 8.40pm at Gresham's School pool or afterwards in the King's Head pub in Letheringsett, and find out if you want to be the new Jaques, Hans ar Lottie
